This rail road company owned the freight cars which exploded after a collision on May 17th, 1996. That collision resulted, we assume, in the creation of "Black 11". The explosion killed all 129 residents of Lake View, IA, and leveled buildings in a 10 mile radius. The resulting phenomenon has made investigation into the cause of the explosion difficult and the rail company has not been forthcoming with details of the cargo. At the time, HAZMAT Chief Will Dues contended that a refrigerator car carrying some unknown material slammed through tank car carrying a liquid carbon polymer. ConPac claims it was just corn syrup.
