STRANGE EVIDENCE IN BUFFALO FORK

Kossuth: The State Geological Survey has discovered what looks like the tracks of a passing carnival. The tracks evidence more than ten humanoid figures wearing shoes. The trail was shared with bears, turkeys, at least two wagons, and some strange multi-legged creature with claws. Several bare foot human prints were also found, each having six toes, and these were along side the footprints of a giant! The giant's footprint measures 16 inches in length and is 13 inches wide at the toes, five inches wide at the ball of the foot, and six inches deep. The trail left by this odd procession is remarkable in itself, but when you consider that the tracks are preserved in solid rock dated some 250 million years old, you have a mystery more remarkable than many are prepared to even consider.

The section of stone was removed by the Survey for further testing. An early press release by Dr. Wilbur Burroughs stated "Photomicrographs and infrared photography reveal no evidence of carving or artificial marking in or around the tracks. A microscopic count of sand grains indicate that material in the tracks had been impacted, as is the natural result of a print made by the pressure of a human foot or the passing of a wagon wheel. In my opinion, there is no way this could be the result of, or duplicated by, carving."

A subsequent press statement called into question not only Dr. Burroughs' findings, but his mental stability. Officially, the Kossuth Carnival Tracks have been labeled a fraud. Repeated requests by the County Historical Society for the return of the stone have gone unanswered.
