Downsville Militia Reports Wire Tap

Pottawattamie: Lt. Cmdr. Gordon Baedeker of the Downsville Chapter of Iowan's Men of Freedom reported to us last month that when they called for a repairman to come and fix their broken copier, an alarming discovery was made.

"Basically we have a situation here that is simply this. We're being spied on. We know things that they know and they want to prove that so that they can authorize an air strike, or something. The guy came out to the ranch because we couldn't get the toner bottle to insert properly. He took a look at the thing and moved a few things and then noticed something strange. A phone line." Baedeker stated in his press release.

According to the paramilitary group, a separate phone line was installed when the phone company had come out to set up a dedicated line for the group's computer system. This secret line was connected to the copier and the internal workings modified to turn it into a fax machine.

When asked for comment, the Lt. Cmdr said, "We knew the web page was monitored, we knew they listened to phone calls and made copies electronically of every fax we sent---the NCS just does that as a matter of course, but we had no idea they were also stealing copies electronically of every scrap of paper we copied on the machine. You have to be real careful. The information super highway is the best thing to ever happen to Big Brother."
