UFO's And Bigfoot Sighted In Sioux City

submitted by Todd Ristau and Charles Williams

Woodbury: The Iowa UFO Research Network is now actively investigating a UFO sighting in the Sioux City area on August 7. UFO ROUNDUP electronically published the sighting in its August 17, 1997, issue (Volume 2, #33). According to that report, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) is also investigating (Third Eye Over Iowa has no affiliation with MUFON). The witnesses' names are being withheld as this investigation unfolds.

Did a UFO like this one, seen over the Putnam Parallelogram in 1974, appear recently in Sioux City?
UFO ROUNDUP reports that a father and his step-son were traveling in a car when the 11 year-old boy spotted a triangle in the sky. The father estimated the craft to be less than 1,000 feet away and less than 500 feet in altitude, traveling at a relatively slow speed. When the two arrived at the father's home, they told their implausible story to the father's 50 year old mother. Later that day, at about 9:30 PM, the three witnessed a triangular craft hover in the air for 15 minutes Southwest of the house. Another object, an amber globe, appeared to the West of the house. Three smaller globes emerged from the first one and moved rapidly around the sky, then returned to the original globe, which slowly faded from sight. The UFOs were seen near Stone Park, headed west.

The article goes on to say that since the event the youngest witness has had recurring dreams of entities with large heads and no faces.

It is noteworthy that on the prior night, the Sioux City Police Department got several reports of a "Bigfoot" on 17th Street. According to a report by Jennifer Palmer in the Sioux City Journal, residents claim to have heard strange noises and discovered tracks in their yards every night during that week. The article quoted Lori Gabriel, who lives at 616 17th Street, as saying she "usually hears the noises from midnight to 5 AM."

"The last four or five nights we have heard branches breaking, and there have been big footprints everywhere," she further said. "Now I have found three different sets of footprints. It looked like Bigfoot, his wife, and Baby Bigfoot might have made them, like they were standing next to each other."

Ms. Gabriel said she hadn't actually seen the Bigfoot, but one of her tenants had. Jeremy Corbin reported to the Sioux City Police Department on August 6, that he saw Bigfoot standing in front of his first-floor window. He said, "The animal was taller than 7 feet (2.5 meters) with reddish-brown hair."

"I woke up about 5 AM, and I saw this huge thing outside my window. It had its back to me so I did not get a good glimpse of it because I did not have my glasses on. I had to squint to see it well, then it just disappeared," he said.

Locals are blaming the Bigfoot for everything from loud noises, overturned trash cans, and letting dogs off their leashes at night. We attempted to reach both witnesses for direct comment, however Lori has an unpublished number and there is no listing for Jeremy Corbin in the Sioux City area.

For the record, sighting of Bigfoots or Sasquatch are common in conjunction with UFO sightings. Some researchers consider Bigfoots to actually be alien entities themselves as they have been seen near and onboard UFOs. Little is known about them. Some researchers speculate that they are the hominid species from which Homo Sapiens emerged.

As of this printing, Dr. Clayton Webster of the Department of Zoological Studies at Georg von Podebrad College was "very excited" about this new sighting. "I can not say for certain," the doctor said in a phone interview, "but all indications are that this is a close relative of the Lee County Yeti. We do not know for certain if these creatures migrate. Sightings of a such similar creature will do a great deal to garner support for developing a tracking device to aid my research."

If any of our readers has further information on this matter, contact us at our Creatures and Monsters Department (formerly Cryptozoology). The message will be relayed to Dr. Webster.
