COULD YOUR MIGRAINE

     REALLY BE AN ALIEN IMPLANT?

submitted by Heather Chu

Cedar: Leo Potsche, a retired history teacher from Zoar, recently checked into the Podebrad Medical Center complaining of migraine headaches and frequent blackouts. After undergoing a full battery of tests, a 1mm diameter gray metal implant was discovered behind his left ear. The patient was mystified as to how the object got there and all pain ceased upon its removal. Dr. John Lair, the surgeon who took the device from Potsche's head, was baffled by it and sent it to the Medical Center's lab for analysis.

The lab findings were inconclusive, except that the device was composed of aluminum, titanium, and silicon. There were also traces of iron, potassium, calcium, sulfur, chlorine, and sodium-all of which occur naturally in the human body. However, Dr. Lair explained in an exclusive interview that:

"It seems highly unlikely that the combination of elements in the quantity and configuration found on the implant would be possible. For the record, while our lab results do not necessarily indicate anything unearthly was involved, this is a device created by a technology far superior to anything we have available today in the private or public sector. Titanium and aluminum can be used in a transceiver, and the reports of blackouts do fit an pattern established in Mary Jo Florey's Evidence For, And Implications of, Medically Unexplained Implants in Abductees .

"When the implant was in place, it literally became part of him. The device was coated in some kind of gel that promotes nerve growth-fascinating in its medical implications alone-and actually caused the implant to connect with Potsche's peripheral nerves. I would not be at all surprised if the device had direct access to the higher brain functions. For what purpose, I couldn't even guess. I know similar work with sub-cutaneous implants is being done around the country. At the University of Iowa, a brain stem implant is enabling the deaf to hear sounds, and the World Future Society recently reported that computer chips able to send and receive radio messages from within the human body will be available to consumers in the next decade. A similar prototype for pet location is already being tested here in Iowa.

"This technology is developing very quickly, but its nothing like this thing I pulled out of Potsche's head. Frankly, I'm a little scared." Dr. Lair concluded. And he isn't the only one taking interest in the strange object.

The Iowa UFO Research Network (IUFORN) has offered to pay for Potsche's hypnotherapy to recover memories from his black out periods in hopes that it will prove he was an abductee. Both Potsche and Dr. Lair were invited to speak at the recent re-naming ceremony for Nevada Highway 375, now called "Extraterrestrial Highway", which skirts the highly controversial "Area 51." Both respectfully declined. From Rapier Enterprises came an offer to purchase the object for an undisclosed sum. The Houston-based corporation, established by hypnotist and professional UFO investigator Derrik Zinns, was set up in February of 1992 for the purposes of gathering data on abductees.

"I won't say how much, but it was a lot of money," Potsche states. "The fellow said they were funded by some very, very large companies and have scientifically qualified people to check this stuff out. That may be so, but I'm a vet and a patriot, and if some businessman in Texas wants this thing, maybe the government ought to know about it. Anyway, I don't trust anybody who wants to give me a lot of money, so I sent the thing to NASA."

The parcel, sent via a national carrier, has since vanished. NASA claims that the object was returned to Potsche because it was too small for proper testing. Shipping orders indicate that it did arrive at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. It was accepted by a Lt. Col. Atkinson and kept at the Center for two days before reshipped in the same packaging back to Potsche in Iowa. The shipping company, who advised us not to use their name, has been unable to track the package since it left Alabama.
