Johnson: Observed on October 6, a tremendous amount of helicopter activity over the town. Despite the difficulty in identifying coloration and markings against the night sky, reliable witnesses have stated the aircraft were in fact black with no markings. Aircraft made12 separate passes over the offices of the Iowa UFO Research Network between the hours of 8:30pm and 1:30am; sometimes at high speeds, other times slower and hovering.

One flew very close to our building and its searchlight came through the main window. There are also reports of several passes by a Lear jet which took off from the Iowa City Airport near the hour of 1:00 am. This low flying aircraft made a tremendous roar, and I have spoken with many who were awakened by it, who say they recall a similar noisy jet at almost the same time last year. The fact that it is a Lear jet is significant in that flying ace John Lear (son of the famous aviation pioneer William Lear) may have been in the area. Lear is a world famous ufologist very active in the study of "black helicopters" and government involvement in alien activity on Earth. Any further information on the flights over Iowa City on that evening should be reported to this magazine immediately.
