Madman Shot Assaulting Masonic Temple

     At 3:17 PM that day, Zoar police responded to a call from the Masonic Temple, where a man wearing military-style camouflage clothes and wielding handguns was shooting at the building, as well as passersby. Mason Bill Field reports that the shooting started only after the man, identified as bank-teller Joseph Green, 22, shouted a string of curses and accusations at the building.

     When police arrived, Green shot at them, calling the police "the hounds of Hermes." Three officers returned fire, killing Green immediately.

     Zoar Police Officer and Mason Uri Kroger said Green had a history of mental illness and was an avid reader of tabloids and conspiracy newsletters. Kroger added, "We're just glad this ended as well as it did."
