Black Helicopters Bearing Board Game Return

Johnson: It was just after sunset on one of the last golden days of summer when Rose and Hiram Jones heard the murmuring blades of a military helicopter near their house as they sipped wine on their front porch. The couple, in their mid-thirties, intrigued by the sound walked out into their front yard to investigate and were suddenly met by a squad of black clad armed soldiers wearing gas masks.

this bring troops for a strange experiment to a rural home?
"We froze," says Rose. "There wasn't anything else to do. One of them held the muzzle of his gun right at my heart. I was so scared, I dropped my wine glass."

"I didn't," quips Hiram, a decorated Desert Storm veteran. "I knew there were MH-60L Black Hawks near the house as soon as I heard them. And when I saw those troopers rush out of the bushes, I figured it was an Special Op. But as soon as the Lieutenant came up not wearing any gas mask and carrying that board game, I knew something wasn't kosher."

Rose adds that the Lieutenant addressed them as "Mr. and Mrs. Kleinfelt".

"They're our neighbors. I was gonna say something but Hiram stepped on my foot. He didn't look scared so I kept quiet and played along."

The Jones say they were led back into their kitchen and asked by the Lieutenant to play the board game Frivolous Intents with him. They played this game for approximately 90 minutes when the officer and soldiers withdrew from the home and apparently flew off in their helicopters. The occurrence is identical to other instances reported by Third Eye Over Iowa (see: Federal Troops Pay Nocturnal Visit, May, 1996, vol. 3, Issue #5 & Federal Troops Shoot Uncooperative Farmer, November, 1996, vol.3, Issue #11).

However, Hiram Jones says he noticed that both Rose and the officer were behaving strangely during the game.

"I know my wife isn't a pin-head---and generally officer's ain't either. But both of them were making the dumbest mistakes on the easiest questions. They couldn't move their pieces the same number of moves as what they rolled on the dice. Anytime they moved a piece to the far left or far right of the board, they forgot about it. Hell the Lieutenant couldn't even see all four of his pieces at one point even though he was looking straight at them. And a couple of times, Rose insisted on reading the questions from the card upside down because she picked it up that way."

Rose says she behaved completely ordinary and this has Hiram worried. He thinks they were subjected to some experimental military nerve agent and plans to take his wife to see a neurologist soon. Asked why he wasn't effected, he gives a puzzled shrug. "In the Gulf War, I got inoculated against all sorts of stuff, most of it I still can't even pronounce. Guess it's still works."
